Elliptical vs. Treadmill
Aerobic exercise is a great way to improve your cardiovascular health. This type of workout will benefit you not only to stay physically healthy, but also helpful when it comes to losing weight. Walking would be a good choice as a part of your aerobic exercise plan. Walking, jogging or running on your neighbourhood in the morning can be a great alternative to tight working schedule these days. If it gets cold or rains outside, then you can still walk or run on your treadmill. With this machine, there is no excuse to skip your exercise schedule because of inclement weather.
From time to time, treadmills seem to remain in the top list of fitness equipment to be bought by most people. Nevertheless, since the elliptical trainer was introduced in the middle of 1990s, this kind of fitness equipment is quickly becoming very popular over the others. People are now becoming familiar with the elliptical workouts and everyone seems satisfied with the health benefits provided.
I’m basically not agreeing if we try to compare which one should get two thumbs up between the elliptical workout and the treadmill workout since both of them are certainly giving us health benefits, regardless of their approaches. In other words, both the elliptical workouts and the treadmill workouts help us reach our fitness goals. Nevertheless, there is nothing wrong for knowing several differences between these two types of workout.
Performing a treadmill workout is basically easier than an elliptical workout. Everyone can walk or jog, regardless of age and fitness levels. All you have to do is get on the treadmill and then go walk. Even, your grandma can still maintain her health by getting a little walk a day on the treadmill. Vice versa, exercising with an elliptical trainer may require some experience because this type of workout needs coordination between your arms and legs. Although there are several models designed to become a total body workout machine these days, which are two arm bars installed, treadmills basically provide health benefits on your lower body.
If you have problems on your knee or joint, then the elliptical workout will be a more safety for you. Elliptical workouts are famed with its less impact especially for those who are suffering such problems I’ve mentioned. If you don’t know yet, an elliptical workout is a smooth motion of gliding back and forth where your arms hold the handrails and your legs on the pivoting footpad. This smooth motion will create much less impact because your weight is not added back all at once.
When it comes to lose weight, the elliptical workouts seem to give you more benefits, as it is a total body workout machine. However, running on a treadmill may help you to burn calories as much as performing an elliptical workout. Moreover, you might be wonder on how an incline treadmill workout helps you to blast more calories.
Speaking of workout variation, a treadmill tends to give you a more variety of workouts. In addition, there are now many manufactures of treadmill equip their products with several luxury features such as iPod port, built-in TV, iFit compatibility (a feature that allows you to download workout programs from the Internet) and so on. The features that might not be easy to be found on the elliptical trainers.
Well, instead of confusing yourself by comparing which the best between the treadmill workout and the elliptical workout, it would be better to use both elliptical and treadmill in your routines. Regardless of each has its own method, the point to know is that both treadmill workouts and elliptical workouts are a great way to exercise your cardiovascular and get rid of your excess fat. That’s all.
